B2B - Back To Blogging

By al • Dec 30th, 2008 • Category: Uncategorized, help me understand, our so-called digital life, web dev

So, I’ve been easing back into the whole blogging world. My primary goals are to write about being a new dad/stepdad/husband, an internet professional, musician, and budding lifestyle coach/advice type of person. All of that will come as I have a lot to say and, hopefully, some words of wisdom that someone will find helpful. [...]

On The Road Again

By al • Dec 11th, 2008 • Category: our so-called digital life, web dev

I’m one of those few folks that actually enjoys short, fly in/out meetings. Missing my wife and kids is certainly a driving factor, but, I honestly enjoy meeting with people and the rush of the fly-in vacuum compounds it. Technology plays a major role in this, obviously, however, technology is useless without the human element [...]

With “Friends” Like These

By al • Dec 6th, 2008 • Category: our so-called digital life

Facebook; you, like me and 120+ million others, are using it. It’s a great way to re-connect with people and to keep up with existing real-world friends at a glance. For better or worse, you can get all of the info you want on your “friends.” For better- those friends that you don’t have [...]

A Paperless World

One thing that attracted me to technology those many years ago was the promise of a paperless world. I was drawn in after my first BB session ‘85/’86…hooked like a digital crackhead. Nothing drives me crazy more than web sites with poor user experience/interface. Typically, these sites are not professional in caliber and don’t last long if they are in any way used as revenue stream. With user experience design, you get what you pay for. Poor user experience = no repeat users. What boils my blood, [...]

Testing iPhone Posting

By al • Oct 17th, 2008 • Category: our so-called digital life

The interface is nice… does the job, and, it IS free! Why post from my phone? For me, my laptop is more of a hub to develop on, edit pics, etc…the phone is about digital communication- taking what you need with you and doing what you want where & when you want. Freedom…what can’t Apple [...]

Designing For The Web vs. Scalability

By al • Oct 15th, 2008 • Category: our so-called digital life, web dev

One of the unique challenges with the web is that it is a portable, scalable medium. Ideas that work in X pixel ratio don’t always translate in larger or smaller spaces. We (and the industry on a whole) are striving to make our site(s)  snap to mobile - or any other “space” where users access [...]

Testing WP > Facebook integration

By al • Oct 10th, 2008 • Category: our so-called digital life

Bare with me….just testing some stuff…

Ok, it looks like the plugin, WPBook, is working. A lot of hoops to go through just to post (push) to FB. I’ll continue to check it out and report my findings.
