So long little buddy…
Oct 12th, 2008
Today we had to re-assign the Colonel (our cat Deaner) to a new post on the Eastern Shore. We call him the Col. because he thinks he’s a military security cat and he meows with a Southern drawl…oh, and he has OCD. I never thought I have a pet with human issue, but, the vet told us it was somewhat common and, given he behavior, he has it real bad. He has a pattern that he must follow or he freaks out- check window #1, then #2, etc., etc…tuck in the kids, go check the windows again and on-and-on. If he is interupted in his routine, he sprays certain spots (he’s neutered, but, stress makes him spray), if he sees other animals outside, he sprays. We had him on kitty Valium, but, it seemed to make him worse and didn’t really seem fair to the little dude- he thinks he’s just protecting his family, after all. Unfortunately, we tried everything to help his stress- difusers with phermones, special anti-spray stuff, etc…nothing was working and we were left with 2 options; find a family that can let him be an indoor/outdoor cat (we have too many foxes here for that), orĀ put him to sleep. Luckily, Dylan and Doreen stepped up to take him in. We’re torn up, obvioulsy, but, we know he will take his new post with vigor! He is excited at the opportunity and that he gets to raise 2 little kittens in his ways. See you soon, Colonel!

That is a darn shame. But Lil Buddy will be very happy with Dyl and Doreen!
